Long story but I had some serious travel mishaps yesterday due to weather delays in Houston and Dallas.
I was essentially “trapped” on a plane on the tarmac awaiting a very delayed takeoff and by the time we did depart it was too late to catch my connecting flight in Dallas, and there wasn’t another flight in time for me to make my scheduled meeting. So the whole trip was a waste - or so it seemed.
I fought against my sinful inclination to complain about my own discomfort and asked God to show me His purposes in all this. AA booked me on a flight late last night right back to Houston. I sat down in 28F, worn out, and started reading the book I bought, When the Son of Man Comes by Federico Suarez.
The flight was full so soon I had a very large man seated next to me, who immediately took interest in what I was reading and (much to my initial chagrin lol) stated engaging in conversation.
Turns out, he was a Reformed Baptist pastor that I knew from my years of evangelical pastoral ministry. So for the next hour and a half he got to hear an evangelical pastor to Catholic revert give a full-throated defense of the Catholic Church. I don’t think he had ever heard most of the things I said.
I promised him two books which I’ve already sent his way: The Catholic Controversy by Francis de Sales and Evangelical is not Enough by Thomas Howard.
Say a prayer for Pastor Kyle.
