THE ERROR OF ARIUS ABOUT THE INCARNATION

In their eagerness to proclaim the unity of God and man in Christ, some heretics went to the opposite extreme and taught that not only was there one person, but also a single nature, in God and man. This error took its rise from Arius. To defend his position that those scriptural passages where Christ is represented as being inferior to the Father, must refer to the Son of God Himself, regarded in His assuming nature, Arius taught that in Christ there is no other soul than the Word of God who, he maintained, took the place of the soul in Christ’s body. Thus when Christ says, in John 14:28, “The Father is greater than I,” or when He is introduced as praying or as being sad, such matters are to be referred to the very nature of the Son of God. If this were so, the union of God’s Son with man would be effected not only in the person, but also in the nature. For, as we know, the unity of human nature arises from the union of soul and body.

RESTORATION OF MAN BY GOD THROUGH THE INCARNATION

We indicated above that the reparation of human nature could not be effected either by Adam or by any other purely human being. For no individual man ever occupied a position of pre-eminence over the whole of nature; nor can any mere man be the cause of grace. The same reasoning shows that not even an angel could be the author of man’s restoration. An angel cannot be the cause of grace, just as he cannot be man’s recompense with regard to the ultimate perfection of beatitude, to which man was to be recalled. In this matter of beatitude angels and men are on a footing of equality. Nothing remains, therefore, but that such restoration could be effected by God alone.

But if God had decided to restore man solely by an act of His will and power, the order of divine justice would not have been observed. justice demands satisfaction for sin. But God cannot render satisfaction, just as He cannot merit. Such a service pertains to one who ...

The Catholic Understanding of Lucifer

This is one of the most profound and important truths of the faith — because understanding who Lucifer really is illuminates the nature of evil, the gift of free will, and why Christ's victory over him is so magnificent. Here is what Scripture, Tradition, and the Magisterium actually teach:

👼 1. Lucifer Was Created Good

This cannot be overstated: God did not create evil. Scripture and the Church's Tradition see in Satan a fallen angel. The Church teaches that Satan was at first a good angel, made by God: "The devil and the other demons were indeed created naturally good by God, but they became evil by their own doing."

By the tradition's consistent account, Satan was a being of extraordinary spiritual power and intelligence, among the highest of the angelic orders, whose brilliance and capacity for knowing God were unmatched among creatures.

Catholic theology teaches that Lucifer was originally an angel — a created spiritual being of great beauty and intelligence. Angels are pure spirits without ...

Daily Aquinas – Day 19 🎓

The Quote
"Evil is the absence of good which is natural and due to a thing."
Summa Theologiae I, Question 49, Article 1

The Teaching
Revelation — established yesterday as reason's necessary anchor — illuminates truths that reason alone distorts or abandons. Among the most misunderstood is the nature of evil itself. The problem of evil is perhaps the oldest weapon aimed at belief in a good God. Aquinas meets it head-on, and his answer reframes the entire question.
Evil is not a thing. It has no independent substance, no nature of its own, no existence apart from the good it corrupts. Evil is a privation — the absence of a good that ought to be present in a particular nature. Blindness is not a positive entity; it is the absence of sight in a creature whose nature is ordered toward sight. Cruelty is not a substance inhabiting a man; it is the absence of right order in a will that was made for love. This is not wordplay — it is a metaphysical claim with enormous ...

Daniel and the Lions' Den 🦁

What a story — not a fairy tale, but a thunderclap of divine truth. The account of Daniel in the lions' den is one of the most vivid demonstrations of God's sovereignty in all of Scripture. Here's the full picture from a Catholic perspective.

📖 The Story (Daniel 6)
When Darius became king of Babylon, he chose 123 people — including Daniel — to help him run his kingdom. Darius liked Daniel and planned to put him in charge of the entire kingdom, which made his other assistants deeply jealous and eager to find grounds to accuse him.
They knew Daniel was so faithful in his daily prayers that they induced the king to decree that for 30 days, anyone who prayed to any god but Darius would be cast into the den of lions. They easily caught Daniel praying three times a day, and denounced him to the king.
The king tried to rescue Daniel, but was reminded that the decree of the Medes and Persians could not be changed — not even by the king himself. Sadly, he had no choice but to cast ...

Since Joining The Daily Wire...

I feel that having Hahn on speaks volumes to the integrity of PWA and the respect DW has for that integrity." - @arealdonut

Okay ... with that out of the way, I'm happy to annoucne that:

It's finally here! Jesus Our Refuge 🙌

It’s finally here!

I’ve been pouring my heart into what I truly believe is an important book—Jesus Our Refuge (get here). It’s the most personal thing I’ve ever written, and my hope is that it helps you find peace and refuge in the heart of Jesus.

Please consider getting a copy here and reviewing!

P.S. I don’t earn anything from this book. When I wrote it, I knew it had to reach far and wide, so I partnered with a publisher who believes in that mission. Every bit of the royalties I’d have received goes into a fund to give away one million copies for free.
