Men's October Battle Plan: Iron, Scripture, and the Rosary ⚔️
Why This Split, Not the Old Bro-Split
The classic "chest Monday, back Tuesday, shoulders Thursday" bro-split trains each muscle only once a week. Training each muscle twice a week builds more strength and size over a month than once-a-week training. Push / Pull / Legs / Upper / Lower (PPLUL) is the stronger option — it trains the upper body three times and the legs twice for balanced development, all while leaving two clear days for the rest the split requires.
💪 The Daily Send-Out (Monday–Sunday Template)
Monday – PUSH (Chest, Shoulders, Triceps) Rosary: Joyful Mysteries. Ephesians: assigned weekly passage (below). Daily Mass readings: pull up bible.usccb.org before the lift.
Tuesday – PULL (Back, Biceps, Rear Delts) Rosary: Sorrowful Mysteries. Ephesians: continue weekly passage. Daily Mass readings: five minutes before or after training.
Wednesday – ACTIVE REST (Walk, Bike, Hike — No Weights) Rosary: Glorious Mysteries. Ephesians: continue weekly passage. Daily Mass readings at bible.usccb.org.
Thursday – LEGS (Quads, Hamstrings, Glutes, Calves) Rosary: Luminous Mysteries. Ephesians: continue weekly passage. Daily Mass readings.
Friday – UPPER (Full Upper Body, Strength Focus) Rosary: Sorrowful Mysteries — fitting for the day of the Crucifixion. Ephesians: continue weekly passage. Daily Mass readings.
Saturday – LOWER (Full Lower Body, Strength Focus) Rosary: Joyful Mysteries, traditionally Our Lady's day. Ephesians: finish weekly passage. Daily Mass readings.
Sunday – ACTIVE REST + MASS Rosary: Glorious Mysteries, in thanksgiving for the Resurrection made present at the altar. Sunday Mass first — everything else in the day is built around it, not the other way around.
📖 The Ephesians Reading Calendar
Week 1 (Oct 1–4) – Ephesians 1: Chosen and adopted in Christ before the foundation of the world.
Week 2 (Oct 5–11) – Ephesians 2: Saved by grace, not by works — dead men made alive.
Week 3 (Oct 12–18) – Ephesians 3: The mystery of Christ revealed; Paul's prayer for strength in the inner man.
Week 4 (Oct 19–25) – Ephesians 4: One body, one Spirit; putting off the old self, putting on the new.
Week 5 (Oct 26–31) – Ephesians 5–6: Households ordered rightly, and the Armor of God — the fitting close to a month spent training the body while arming the soul.
⛪ Sunday Mass and the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (Oct 7)
Sunday Mass is not optional in this plan or in life — it satisfies the Third Commandment and is the source and summit of everything else on this calendar. The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on October 7 deserves special weight this particular month: it commemorates the naval victory at Lepanto in 1571, won as Christendom prayed the Rosary in defense against invasion, and it is the very feast that gives October its name as the Month of the Holy Rosary. Attending Mass that day — a weekday Mass if it falls midweek — is not a suggestion but the fitting response to a month spent asking Our Lady's intercession before every lift. A man who trains his body five days a week but skips the feast of the weapon he's supposedly praying daily has misunderstood the whole point of the month.
The Bottom Line for the Group
Send this Monday–Sunday template as the recurring skeleton, drop in the weekly Ephesians passage from the calendar, and treat October 7 as a marked exception worth a special trip to Mass. Muscle grows on twice-a-week frequency; the soul grows on daily fidelity — this plan asks for both.
