Who is doing St. Michael's Lent and what have you given up?
I've given up scrolling social media. I'm only using Youtube, but avoiding scrolling, and this.
I've also given up a game I've been playing on my phone. I really REALLY enjoy this game, but it is not only addictive, but a pay-to-get-anywhere game, and yeah, I've been foolishly spending money on the game, justifying it by saying we're all allowed to dump money on something enjoyable. But, I was not only losing money on it, I was losing focus, losing hours out of the day, and losing sleep. If I was going anywhere or doing anything I was thinking about the game. Even now I'm itching to download it again and play it.
I've also given up all music except sacred music and classical music just because I want to keep myself focused on the good and the beautiful. This applies to music of my own choosing on my own time. It doesn't apply to music my husband and I might enjoy together, for example.
In addition I am going to try to not treat myself. One can get into a habit of justifying too many treats and fall into self-indulgence.
I give them up in penance for my sins, and for the conversion of my family members.
Lastly, my prayer and hope for this St. Michael's Lent is for answers. Since moving to another part of the state and losing so much I feel lost and am seeking the Lord's Will and direction. Should I get another job? If so, what job? Should I go back to college? Should I work on sacred music? Should I just maintain the status quo and use the free time to heal?
Also, Donovan, I've been praying that the Lord prepares us for St. Michael's Lent and that He will give us the answers that we are seeking.
Tell me about your St. Michael's Lent.
