Maybe you already know this, but I just learned about the acronym H.A.N.D.S., showing the divinity of Christ. I asked Truthly A.I. to explain and give some biblical references, see hereunder.

What a powerful and beautiful tool for evangelization this is. The H.A.N.D.S. acronym was created by Drs. Robert M. Bowman Jr. and J. Ed Komoszewski and can be found in their books The Incarnate Christ and His Critics: A Biblical Defense and Putting Jesus in His Place: The Case for the Deity of Christ.

This work shows that the divinity of Christ was not an afterthought of the fourth-century Church, but was the firm belief of the first-century biblical writers.

Using the acronym H.A.N.D.S., they reason that the Bible teaches that Jesus shares the Honour due only to God, that Jesus shares the Attributes of God, that Jesus shares the Names ascribed to God, that Jesus does the Deeds that only God can do, and that Jesus is Seated on the throne of God.

Here is a full breakdown of each letter:

✋ H — Honors

There are certain honors reserved for certain positions. Worship is an honor that is reserved only for God, yet Jesus received worship.

Scripture indicates that God alone is to be worshipped (Deut. 6:13; Matt. 4:9–10), yet Jesus is worshipped and accepts such worship (Matt. 14:33; Heb. 1:6).

  • Matthew 14:33 — After Jesus walks on water, the disciples worship Him saying, "Truly, you are the Son of God."
  • Philippians 2:10–11 — Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
  • If Jesus were merely human, it would be wrong to honor Him as God — yet devout Jews in the New Testament bowed down and worshipped Jesus.

✋ A — Attributes

The Bible tells us that Jesus has the same attributes as God, being eternal (John 1:1–3; 8:58), all-powerful (Matt. 28:18), all-knowing (John 21:17), and loving (Rom. 8:35–39). If someone possessed the same characteristics, the same nature as God, in the same way that God did, what would that make Him?

Key references:

  • John 1:1"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
  • John 8:58"Before Abraham came to be, I AM" — a direct claim to the divine name revealed to Moses (Exod. 3:14).
  • Colossians 2:9"In him dwells the whole fullness of the deity bodily."
  • Hebrews 13:8 — Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever — a statement of His eternal immutability, an attribute belonging to God alone.

✋ N — Names

Jesus is said to have been given the name that is above every other name (Phil. 2:9–11). Jesus is called God (John 20:28), Lord (Acts 1:24), the King of kings (Rev. 19:16), Saviour (Luke 2:11), and the First and the Last (Rev. 1:7–8).

These are not merely honorific titles — they are the exclusive divine names of Yahweh applied directly to Jesus in the New Testament:

  • John 20:28 — Thomas exclaims: "My Lord and my God!" — and Jesus does not correct him.
  • Isaiah 44:6 — God says He alone is "the first and the last." In Revelation 1:17, Jesus claims that very same title.
  • Romans 10:13"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" — quoting Joel 2:32, where "the Lord" is Yahweh, now applied to Jesus.

✋ D — Deeds

Bowman and Komoszewski point out that Jesus does things in the Gospels that only God can do: He controls nature by calming storms, He multiplies food, He raises the dead.

Who can do the things that God alone does? Jesus is said to be the creator (John 1:3), the sustainer of all things (Heb. 1:3).

Key references:

  • John 1:3"All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be." — Creation belongs to God alone.
  • Mark 2:5–7 — Jesus forgives sins, and the scribes rightly ask, "Who but God alone can forgive sins?" — Jesus does not deny the logic; He proves His authority.
  • John 11:43–44 — Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead by His own command, not by prayer to another.

✋ S — Seat (of God's Throne)

Jesus is on the seat of God's eternal throne. This is perhaps the most breathtaking claim of all: Jesus does not merely stand before God's throne — He shares it.

  • Hebrews 1:3 — Jesus "sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high" — not as a servant, but as One who shares divine rule.
  • Revelation 3:21 — Jesus says: "I have conquered and have taken my seat with my Father on his throne."
  • Revelation 22:1,3 — The throne of Heaven is called "the throne of God and of the Lamb" — a single throne shared by Father and Son.
  • Acts 7:55–56 — Stephen, at his martyrdom, sees "the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God" — and worships Jesus as he dies.

The Catholic Confirmation

The H.A.N.D.S. framework converges perfectly with what the Church has always proclaimed. The Council of Nicaea (325 AD) declared Jesus to be homoousios — "consubstantial" with the Father — not a creature, not a lesser deity, but God from God, Light from Light. The Catechism affirms: "Jesus Christ is true God and true man" (CCC 464). Every letter of H.A.N.D.S. is a window into that eternal truth, written in the very text of Sacred Scripture.

This is more than an apologetics tool — it is an invitation to fall on your knees before the One who bears every divine honor, attribute, name, deed, and throne. As St. Thomas himself cried out: "My Lord and my God!"

So here is a question worth sitting with: If Jesus is truly God — not just a great teacher or prophet — what does that demand of your life, today, in the most concrete and practical sense?

THE ERROR OF ARIUS ABOUT THE INCARNATION

In their eagerness to proclaim the unity of God and man in Christ, some heretics went to the opposite extreme and taught that not only was there one person, but also a single nature, in God and man. This error took its rise from Arius. To defend his position that those scriptural passages where Christ is represented as being inferior to the Father, must refer to the Son of God Himself, regarded in His assuming nature, Arius taught that in Christ there is no other soul than the Word of God who, he maintained, took the place of the soul in Christ’s body. Thus when Christ says, in John 14:28, “The Father is greater than I,” or when He is introduced as praying or as being sad, such matters are to be referred to the very nature of the Son of God. If this were so, the union of God’s Son with man would be effected not only in the person, but also in the nature. For, as we know, the unity of human nature arises from the union of soul and body.

RESTORATION OF MAN BY GOD THROUGH THE INCARNATION

We indicated above that the reparation of human nature could not be effected either by Adam or by any other purely human being. For no individual man ever occupied a position of pre-eminence over the whole of nature; nor can any mere man be the cause of grace. The same reasoning shows that not even an angel could be the author of man’s restoration. An angel cannot be the cause of grace, just as he cannot be man’s recompense with regard to the ultimate perfection of beatitude, to which man was to be recalled. In this matter of beatitude angels and men are on a footing of equality. Nothing remains, therefore, but that such restoration could be effected by God alone.

But if God had decided to restore man solely by an act of His will and power, the order of divine justice would not have been observed. justice demands satisfaction for sin. But God cannot render satisfaction, just as He cannot merit. Such a service pertains to one who ...

I don’t hold hands during the Our Father. That being said, on Sunday my daughter insisted I hold hands with her stuffed animal during it and I acquiesced. I feel this is a theological grey area.

July 21, 2026

Here a good interview of Fr. Carlos Martins on Purgatory. This channel is interviewing Fr. Carlos Martins every week, talking about one chapter of his book at the time. I strongly advise to buy the book (The Exorcist Files - same name as the podcast), but those interviews are nice complement.

Since Joining The Daily Wire...

Since joining The Daily Wire, we’ve started streaming the show on Spotify, and somehow we’re now in the top 7 under Religion & Spirituality.

Take that, other religions and spiritualities!

Seriously though, thank you to everyone who watches here on Locals, Youtube, or Spotify.

Christ is King. Glorify Him.

PS: I know the Internet keeps saying that the Daily Wire is a sinking ship but I disagree :) But even if PWA will sink, it will sink proclaiming the goodness of God and Holy Mother Church.

Thanks for helping me do that.

It's finally here! Jesus Our Refuge 🙌

It’s finally here!

I’ve been pouring my heart into what I truly believe is an important book—Jesus Our Refuge (get here). It’s the most personal thing I’ve ever written, and my hope is that it helps you find peace and refuge in the heart of Jesus.

Please consider getting a copy here and reviewing!

P.S. I don’t earn anything from this book. When I wrote it, I knew it had to reach far and wide, so I partnered with a publisher who believes in that mission. Every bit of the royalties I’d have received goes into a fund to give away one million copies for free.
