A Prayer for America on Independence Day đșđž
O God, source of all liberty and truth, we gather as a nation this day to mark 250 years since the founding of these United States. We give thanks for the gift of freedom purchased by the courage of those who came before us, and for the blessings of ordered liberty that have flowed from a Constitution grounded in the dignity of the human person.
We pray for our country. Grant wisdom to those who lead usâthat they may govern with justice, defend the vulnerable, and uphold the common good. Strengthen us to be worthy of the inheritance we have received and the responsibility we bear for generations yet to come.
We pray for unity amid our divisions. In a time of deep disagreement, kindle in our hearts a love for the true good of our neighbor that transcends political faction. Help us to remember that all authority comes from You, and that genuine patriotism is rooted in virtue, not in the triumph of faction.
We pray for moral renewal. Awaken in this nation a hunger for truth, goodness, and beauty. Protect the unborn, strengthen families, defend religious freedom, and guide us away from the false gods of materialism, pride, and power that corrode the soul of a people.
We ask the intercession of the Virgin of Guadalupe,
patroness of the Americas. O Mary, mother of mercy and protector of the faithful, obtain for us the grace to build a civilization of love rooted in Christ. Shelter these nations under your mantle, and teach us to see in every human face the dignity of your Son.
And we pray that America might yet fulfill its deepest promiseânot merely as a political arrangement, but as a beacon of ordered liberty animated by faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
