Hello Friends!
A little update on my thesis research! After wrestling with my topic for three weeks our Lord blessedly helped me formulate my questions well and an outline is beginning taking place. He also placed some fundamental texts for me and that had been great.
I realized I both had to zoom out and zoom in on different questions I wanted to handle.
I have decided to make my overarching primary examination to be one of the goodness of instrumental cause. The reality of how God uses the natures he created to carry out his will has particularly struck me in my life. I also believe this is a characteristic that is unique to Catholicism. The blessed Virgin, the sacraments, and the intercession of saints all being examples of core doctrines that show the delight in which God takes in working through instruments.
I think it’s pretty beautiful we have a God who works this way :)
To narrow the scope of my examination, is where the study of marriage comes in and the creation of Eve. However, I’ve decided to examine Adam and Eve’s relationship as not merely the relationship between the first two humans but also as the first state of the three states of the sacrament (said in varying degrees of strictness here) of marriage. 1) Prelapsian, 2) old law, 3) new law. There’s also the civil law’s consideration which I will bring into my account.
So now I have a thesis that allows me to reflect on God’s goodness in allowing man and women to be instruments of each other’s salvation through the sacrament of marriage, while inadvertently addressing some very big misconceptions Protestants have about the works of God.
Honestly very stoked. Prayers would be appreciated!
